Pullen Park Engagement Session | Raleigh, NC | Kerri + Aaron

Happy Monday, y’all!! ! This month is just flying by! And it’s almost Christmas – YIPPIE!!!

We are so excited to share with you, Kerri and Aaron’s AMAZING engagement session at the beautiful, Pullen Park in Raleigh, NC!! It was a little chilly but we didn’t mind because we had the whole park to ourselves!  This sporty and adventurous couple who love hiking, hammocking and going on adventures together will “Tie the Knot” next May at The Highgrove Estate in Fuquay-Varina, NC, and we CAN. NOT. WAIT!

One of the highlights of this engagement was the amount of thought that Aaron put into Kerri’s beautiful engagement ring!

Arron told us, “It took 6 months and two different jewelers. Her center stone is a purple-pink sapphire cut into the shape of the petals of a flower. The jeweler that cut the stone felt that he was not up to the complex design I had in mind, so after working with a jeweler for months I had to find a new one. Luckily the jeweler I found was incredible and she came up with a number of designs that really captured the flower image I had in mind for Kerri’s ring. We loved the ring so much we are going to have the jeweler make our wedding bands.”

We asked Kerri about their love story and this is what she told us!

How did you meet?

We meet right after we graduated from undergrad at ECU. We were out at Sup Dogs one night and two of our mutual friends threw us at each other. The exact quote is “Aaron your single, Kerri your single… you should talk.” lol. Well, apparently they were right. We were just going to casually date over the summer because we both had big plans for graduate school, but he ended up following me to Raleigh when the summer ended. And 6 years later we are still together. 🙂

New years eve weekend he took me to Annapolis to visit my best friend, Allie. It was FREEEZZINNGGG. On New Year’s Eve, we decided to go downtown early to check out what was going on and also to get coffee and lunch. We were walking around and we walked by this historic house and gardens, which I commented on, just wondering what it was. We got our coffee and lunch and walked around some of the shops. We decided it was freezing though and needed to go back to Allie’s house for a little bit to warm up before going back out to watch the fireworks that night. On the way back to the car we walked again passed this house, and he says while we were at lunch I looked it up, we need to go check it out. (this is not unusual for him at all. He is the creator of looking things up) Again it was 16 degrees outside. lol. So we go in and it cost $5 to tour the gardens. Before he even asked Allie or me, he paid and in we went. It was beautiful. It has just snowed so there thin dusting over all the plants and grounds. (I will admit I was like why are we touring this gardens in the middle of winter? I am sure it would be nicer in the spring. lol) We started walking around and Allie’s phone rings and she states she has to take this and walks away (I didn’t think anything of that because she was in the process of buying a house).  So we keep looking around and then I start to walk down to where this little lighthouse looking thing is next to a bridge over a pond… And he slowed me down and grabbed my hand. That’s when I saw the bridge was lined with pictures of us, and I couldn’t finish my sentences. He walked me across the bridge and said all the sweet things and when we got over the bridge he got down on one knee and proposed. Allie was behind the scenes taking pictures the whole time it was absolutely perfect!
