Happy Tuesday, friends!! I’m bringing a new series to my blog — all about my favorite wedding venues in the triangle! Each week, I will have a new venue for you to check out and read up on — my hope is that these posts can help inspire and inform all of you brides-to-be planning your big day! I have my top venues in the triangle coming for you and today we are going to start with The Stockroom at 230!
I headed downtown to meet with Mollyann at The Stockroom last week — to take a few photos and ask her questions about this great space! I absolutely love the historic character (especially how it got its name!!) and the chic urban feel of the exposed brick and high ceilings. Here is what Mollyann had to say about their venue:
How did you get started?
Empire Properties restores a lot of historic buildings in Downtown Raleigh. All Saints Chapel was our first restored event venue then once we got that up and running, The Stockroom followed suit a year later.
Tell me about your favorite wedding last season.
Last year we won a Triangle NACE award for the best wedding under $30K – it was incredible, they had custom draping, a full Vegan menu, full service planner with all the works and under $30,000 with about 100 guests.
How far out should a bride pay a deposit to secure your venue for her wedding day?
Currently, we are booking 2016 and 2017 dates and plan to open up bookings for 2018 by the end of the year. We get bookings anywhere from a few months out all the way to two years out, so the sooner the better to get your preferred date.
What is included when a couple books your venue for their wedding?
We include tables, chairs, a sound system and wireless microphones as well as our new chalkboard wall. The Glass Box is our new bridal suite space that can be added on to the rental of the Stockroom. The Glass Box can also be rented independently and is great for smaller events, intimate weddings, showers and parties.
How do you help couples customize their wedding?
We have a vendor recommendation list to help all our brides get started with their planning process and preferred catering teams we work with.
What’s one interesting fact about The Stockroom?
Well, this is a historic venue and the building itself was built in 1901. In the 1930’s there was a retail store below us called McLellan’s, so back in the 1930’s this space was actually a stockroom for the store. The Stockroom at 230 is because our address is 230 Fayetteville Street!
How many guests can you accommodate?
The Stockroom can accommodate 175 for a seated reception and 250 for standing cocktails and h’orderves. The Glass Box can be rented for smaller events, and can accommodate 45 guests.
What makes the Stockroom unique?
The exposed brick, kind of a warehouse feel. This space can go from rustic, to glam, and the brick and wood are great textures to work with. You can really keep it simple or go all out – we like to think of our space as Classic chic, downtown unique!
You can read more about The Stockroom and The Glass Box on their website or contact Mollyann: e: mollyann@empire1792.com p: 919.459.3212 to set up a tour! She is so fantastic to work with! Best of luck, brides-to-be!! xoxo
