Bay 7 – American Tobacco Campus | Durham Wedding Photographer | Katie + Jake
Ahhh, get excited for this one, y’all!! I am thrilled to share Katie and Jake’s gorgeous, chic, Bay 7 wedding with you!! Bay 7 – American Tobacco Campus, with it’s century old brick and wood steeped in American history, along with panoramic windows and a wrap around balcony make an unforgettable space for a ceremony and wedding! The rich textures of exposed brick, steel girders and hardwood floors were incredible for a gorgeous wedding backdrop. Jake and I went to high school together so when he contacted me about shooting his wedding, to say I was ecstatic is an understatement! I absolutely love how this little business has reconnected me with so many old friends!
I asked Katie how Jake proposed, and here is what she said:
“Jake tricked me into “meeting up with a friend” at a downtown Durham bar one Wednesday night before we left town for our 2 year anniversary trip (which I had a hunch it may be happening then). We were at Motorco “waiting on our friend Jean” who never showed up obviously because that was the plan :D. Jake asked me if I wanted to just grab a beer at Fullsteam while we waited, and as we were walking over, Jake sweating because of the nerves (but also because he was wearing a coat on one of those 80 degree days we had in Feb) started telling me how much I meant to him and how he couldn’t imagine spending his life with anyone else. Once he got in front of Fullsteam, he stopped and said something to the effect of “I want to ask you something”.. dropped to his knee and then it hit me what was happening. He asked me to be his wife and we both teared up and of course I said yes! He had a friend shooting photo’s from afar, which was really sweet, and once we came out of our little bubble, we realized that the crowd had gathered outside of Fullsteam and people cheered us on. It was awesome.”
Such a great story! Going back to the scene of the first date, great stuff! We know y’all are going to have an awesome life together and we couldn’t be happier for the new Mr. and Mrs. Daniel!! We asked Katie and Jake what they loved most about each other. Here is what they said:
Aside from his handsomeness, charm, and wit, Katie loves how Jake is willing to help others and work his butt off without ever complaining about it. He’s intelligent and open-minded and would do anything for anyone in his family (including Katie and her family). He’s also very giving to his friends and he’s always down to have fun and be spontaneous. He would do anything and everything to make me happy, and loves him more than life itself! She also really love his hilarious dance moves and how much he makes me laugh. 🙂
Jake also loves a lot about Katie! He loves how she is the most genuine, deeply good, and giving person that he has ever met. He loves how dedicated and devoted she is to her family, her friends, and to them. Jake loves how she can light up a room with her smile, her welcoming personality, her smarts, and her beauty. He loves how focused and hard-working she is. He loves how she would do anything for anyone and is constantly thinking about how to make the lives of people around her better. Jake loves how much she loves animals, especially the number 2 and 3 men of her household, their dogs Sam and Banks. He thinks she is truly a once in a lifetime woman and is 100% the person he wants to spend the rest of his life with.
