Happy Tuesday, friends!! I’m so excited to share another AMAZING Raleigh wedding venue today!! In case you missed it last week, I’m bringing a new series to my blog — all about my favorite wedding venues in the triangle! You can read more about The Stockroom at 230 from my post last week and today I’m featuring the beautiful Merrimon Wynne House!!
I headed over last week to ask a few questions and take some photos and had SUCH a great time meeting the team at the MW house!! They really are wonderful! Read along to see what they had to say:
How did you get started?
Merrimon Wynne’s owner, Jodi Strenkowski, purchased the property while she was in the process of planning her own wedding in Charleston, SC. She was inspired by Charleston’s beautiful, historic venues and the southern hospitality that embodies the city and its wedding industry. Jodi wanted to bring the same hospitality and care she received while planning her own wedding to brides getting married in Raleigh.
When Jodi first saw The Merrimon Wynne House she knew it was the perfect place to start. The building was the perfect combination of architectural beauty and history and she knew immediately that the possibilities for the property were endless.
Tell me about your favorite wedding last season:
We would prefer not to pick a favorite since we have had SO MANY gorgeous weddings and all of our couples are unique to us. The most memorable are always the couples that go above and beyond to ensure their family and friends have an unforgettable and unique experience on their wedding day. We love when we get to work with couples who exude love and happiness for each other and those surrounding them on their special day.
How far out should a bride pay a deposit to secure your venue for her wedding day?
We typically see that we book on an average of 15-18 months out for our busier seasons.
What is included when a couple books your venue for their wedding?
The rental of the venue includes use of the house for the entire day starting at 10AM. This allows the bride to come onsite with her bridal party in the morning and spend the day getting ready in our bridal suite stress free. The groomsmen are also welcome to use our grooms suite to prepare for the day. We also include 200 chairs, 20 cocktail tables and tables and linens for 4 bars!
How do you help couples customize their wedding?
We work with our couples in the early stages to help them book a rockstar vendor team, which usually starts by connecting with a top notch wedding coordinator!
What’s one interesting fact about Merrimon Wynne House?
The Merrimon Wynne House was picked up and moved in one piece to its current location!
What do you have planned for the future?
Right now, we are in the process of building and opening our very first sister venue in Austin, TX. The Addison Grove opens this fall!
How many guest can you accommodate?
We can accommodate up to 200 guests for a seated reception in the Carriage House and up to 250 guests if the lawn is tented.
What makes the Merrimon Wynne House unique?
We think the most unique thing about Merrimon Wynne is that it is perfectly situated in downtown Raleigh, just on the outskirts of Historic Oakwood. Being downtown gives guests an unmatched experience. Your guests can stay just a few blocks away and experience all the amazing things Raleigh’s downtown has to offer, such as restaurants, bars, museums and art galleries! We also think being on the National Registry of Historic Places is really unique, especially being that we are not state owned!
Gahhh…so. many. pretties! Right? I just love this venue – it is the true definiteion of southern historic elegance! And the new reception ballroom, what an incredible space to transform! You can read more about the Merrimon Wynne house on their website, or contact them to set up a visit!! Happy planning, brides!! xoxo, Ashley
