How did you get started?

About five years ago, my family and I decided to start a farm. We wanted to do something that our kids (who were 3 and 6 at the time) could learn from and be a part of. Currently, we work on and manage three farms: a chestnut farm in Hillsborough, Yellow Dog Orchards in Yanceyville, and Wild Flora Farm in Chapel Hill. We design all the florals for our weddings and events, and we also have on-farm floral design workshops and family flower u-pick days.

Tell me about your favorite wedding last season.

It’s impossible to pick a favorite! Every couple adds their own special details, and I love seeing how each wedding comes together.

How far out should a bride pay a deposit to secure your venue for her wedding day?

I recommend booking 8-12 months in advance to get the date you want.

What is included when a couple books your venue for their wedding?

On your wedding day, you’ll enjoy exclusive use of our twenty-two acre flower farm and all of our facilities. After a picturesque garden patio ceremony, signature cocktails are served on the barn’s spacious covered veranda. When guests are ready to enter the barn, a wall of french doors open into the main reception space, featuring s a 35-foot vaulted ceiling and 3,200 square feet of flexible floor space.

How do you help couples customize their wedding?

We are a full-service floral design studio and flower farm, and we design the florals for all of our weddings. We also offer custom calligraphy services.

What’s one interesting fact about The Barn of Chapel Hill at Wild Flora Farm?

Built in 1864 in Marcy, New York, our historic barn was relocated to the farm in the fall of 2016. The beautiful hand-hewn hemlock beams of the original structure remain intact, with additional square footage added to fully modernize the space for farm events and to allow for the proper storage and processing of our agricultural products and equipment.

What do you have planned for the future?

We are going to offer more floral design workshops, and we have a flower and chestnut festival planned for this fall.

How many guests can you accommodate?

We can comfortably seat up to 200 people for a plated dinner or formal buffet, or up to 250 people for a more casual cocktail-style reception.

What makes The Barn of Chapel Hill at Wild Flora Farm unique?

We are a working flower farm, and we grow unique and heirloom flowers that we use in our floral designs. If a bride has a favorite flower, we can grow it specifically for her! We’ll harvest her flowers a day or two before the wedding, and use them in her bouquet and centerpieces. There’s nothing like beautiful, fresh flowers picked straight from the field!
